Plan for Medical Needs
If you or a family member relies on electric medical equipment, contact your utility provider. Many have 'priority reconnection' lists for life-sustaining equipment, though this is not a guarantee.
Have a backup plan for refrigerated medicines like insulin. a cooler with ice packs can keep meds safe for hours. Know where you can get more ice if the outage persists.
Talk to your doctor about an emergency plan. Ask if your medication can be stored at room temperature for a short period or if there are alternative treatments available during an emergency.
